After a very stressfull start to the week with gale force
winds and floods across the state, Sunday saw the Angels
smiling down on us with sunny skies.

International Angel Day was coined by renowned author and
spiritual psychologist Dr. Doreen Virtue, Ph.D. in response to the
fear and despair experienced by the international community
after the effects of September 11 in New York.

The focus was to remind people that hope and goodwill are
still relevant and evident in our communities and events which
raise money for local children’s charities were held
simultaneously around the globe on the second weekend in
September 2010.

Naturally the focus of the day was Angels and raising
awareness of their influence in our lives.
Angels are completely nondenominational.

Every religion, Eastern and Western, has the same archetype
of benevolent guides in Heaven helping us, whether they are
called bodhisattvas, deities, divas, or angels. Angels are
something we all agree on.

The days entertainment was predominately focused on
children and included activities such as facepainting,
story telling, clay painting, fashion parades, colouring

The aim was to involve local schools, business owners and
the broader community to help create a positive atmosphere
celebrating the power of angels, the need for wellbeing and the
good work of the Royal Children’s Hospital volunteers.
